March 30, 2012 - At the American Red Cross in Cross Lanes, WV, The Media Center provided live news coverage for the West Virginia Alliance for Sustainable Families (WVASF), who's celebrating April Fools day this Sunday by not fooling anyone and letting everyone know that the IRS has money to refund eligible taxpayers, no fooling! West Virginia Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is what it is all about. There are Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites throughout West Virginia to help for free file returns and answer questions about EITC eligibility.
March 29, 2012 – The Media Center provided live news coverage via-satellite today for the announcement and interviews with George Washington High junior football standout, Ryan Switzer. In front of his Charleston, WV High School, he gave a verbal commitment to play for the University of North Carolina (Tar Heels) in the Atlantic Coast Conference and Coach Larry Fedora.
March 28, 2012 - The Media Center provided live news and interview coverage via-satellite in Parkersburg, WV for the “Change the Future WV” that hosted a Two-Year Anniversary Event from noon until 1:30 p.m. today at Parkersburg Country Club. The event was free and open to the public, highlighted successes of the initiative over the past two years and included discussions of how the program has made a positive impact on the health of Mid-Ohio Valley communities since its beginning and now being started in other regions of the state.
March 23, 2012 - The Media Center provided live coverage via-satellite in Hazard, KY today, for the Kentucky Coal Associations “Faces Of Coal” Press Conference and live interviews. President Bill Bissett led the News Conference, featuring Congressman Hal Rogers and Agriculture Commissioner James Comer, local business leaders, and elected officials.
On March 9, 2012, the YWCA of Charleston WV recognized four Women of Achievement at their annual Gala at Embassy Suites. The YWCA is also celebrating their 100th Birthday this year. The Women of Achievement honorees were Linda Arnold, Dr. Ethel Caffie-Austin, Debra Sullivan, and last but certainly not least, Threece Clements-Townsend. These women are all extraordinary in their own unique way.
March 12, 2012, The Media Center provided coverage live via-satellite of WV native, WVU and NFL legend Sam Huff, who was honored in his hometown of Farmington WV by the Pro Football Hall of Fame as the “Hometown Hall of Famer.”
On Saturday March 3, The Media Center had a video production shoot for the YWCA at our in house Studio. We are putting together a video production for the YWCA’s 100 Years of Service Anniversary. It will be showcased at the “2012 Women of Achievement” Gala, March 9, from Noon-1:30pm at the Embassy Suites in Charleston, WV. The Event is held to honor Women of Achievement and YWCA’s Leading Change For 100 Years.
The Media Center has an update of Governor Tomblin's Prescription Drug Abuse Bill. On Wednesday February 28, 2012, state senators voted unanimously in a (34-0) vote to approve Tomblin's Anti-Drug Bill. While the bill doesn't cover everything, it's definitely a step in the right direction for our state.
