Farmers from across the state are meeting in Charleston for the 11th annual West Virginia Small Farm Conference. The annual event draws farmers, youth and industry together for an opportunity to learn and share new and innovative production and marketing techniques that translate into increased economic impact for the state’s blossoming agricultural community. The conference continues through Saturday.

On Tuesday, July 15, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin joined Appalachian Regional Commission Federal Co-Chairman Earl F. Gohl in announcing the nationwide premier of the Bon Appétit Appalachia culinary map-guide. The announcement capped events at Capitol Market in Charleston designed to recognize and promote food growers and producers unique to Appalachia. The guide recently debuted as an insert in the summer issue of Food Traveler magazine.
On Friday, February 28th, West Virginia State University celebrated the opening of the brand new D. Stephen and Diane H. Walker Convocation Center. Distinguished guests from across the state, as well as across the nation, we on hand for the celebration.

March 28, 2012 - The Media Center provided live news and interview coverage via-satellite in Parkersburg, WV for the “Change the Future WV” that hosted a Two-Year Anniversary Event from noon until 1:30 p.m. today at Parkersburg Country Club. The event was free and open to the public, highlighted successes of the initiative over the past two years and included discussions of how the program has made a positive impact on the health of Mid-Ohio Valley communities since its beginning and now being started in other regions of the state.
March 23, 2012 - The Media Center provided live coverage via-satellite in Hazard, KY today, for the Kentucky Coal Associations “Faces Of Coal” Press Conference and live interviews. President Bill Bissett led the News Conference, featuring Congressman Hal Rogers and Agriculture Commissioner James Comer, local business leaders, and elected officials.
The Media Center has an update of Governor Tomblin's Prescription Drug Abuse Bill. On Wednesday February 28, 2012, state senators voted unanimously in a (34-0) vote to approve Tomblin's Anti-Drug Bill. While the bill doesn't cover everything, it's definitely a step in the right direction for our state.
