West Virginia’s ski areas, after enduring perfect winter conditions, are relishing in perfect spring skiing conditions. The mountains of West Virginia have received over 12 feet of natural snow this season, including over a foot in some areas last night and this morning, and temperatures have been perfect for snowmaking operations.
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and officials with the West Virginia Ski Areas Association announced that January was officially Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month in the mountain state. By proclamation released at a news conference held at the state capitol, West Virginia joined the national program that includes ski-industry states in North America. West Virginia Ski Resorts teach thousands of first-time skiers every season and new skier and snowboard lessons have increased so far this season.
